The Eddie Butler Memorial Match: Men’s Blues vs Crawshays Welsh XV

At 19:30 on 15th March, Ben Gompels will lead the Light Blues against the Crawshays Welsh XV. This match will be the first time that the game is played for the Eddie Butler Memorial Bowl. Eddie came up to Fitz in 1976 and played in a Varsity Match in every year of his degree. He went on to win 16 caps for Wales and a tour with the British and Irish Lions. On his retirement from playing, he remained closely involved with the WRU whilst moving into the media as a commentator. He was truly one of the all-time greats of CURUFC and is greatly missed by all. This match also marks the final home game for the Men’s Blues before they head to Twickenham to take on The Other Place in the Varsity Match. Bring all your friends and come down to support the Light Blues. Gate opens: 18:30 Kick-off: 19:30 Ground Closes: 22:00 Student tickets are free if they are claimed in advance or £2 on the door. Student tickets require a valid student ID. Non-member advance tickets can now be purchased for £4 (+booking fee). These tickets can also be purchased on the gate for £5 (both cash and card are accepted). No external food and alcohol can be brought into the ground. CURUFC reserves the right refuse entry to anybody who does not abide by the ground entry requirements.
