About

Surge Leeds are proud to announce their first event! And it's a big one, we've got the mighty Bakey! Headrow House. February 16th. Be there. Bakey: Bakey should need no introduction, if you know, you know! But to those that don’t, Bakey is one of the UK’s most prolific producer/dj’s at the moment, pioneering some of the freshest, electrifying club sounds of the last few years and shelling the biggest stages all across the country. From setting Boomtown on fire in August going b2b with the legendary Interplanetary Criminal, to getting radio shoutouts from the biggest names in the scene, Om Unit and Nia Archives to name but a few. Fresh off the back of his long anticipated Boiler Room debut in October, join us on February 16th to catch the man in action. Expect Bakey productions and rare dubs ranging from garage, to ghetto, to funky, to jungle; this one comes with a warning. Lila: 1st up to support we've got Lila! After 2 sets on the revered ‘Keep Hush’ platform and shelling jam packed dancefloors across the country, Lila joins us to showcase her deep knowledge of uk and global bass music, ranging anywhere from uk funky, to broken beat, to dancehall and more. After founding ‘The Lila Booth’ on her local Hackney station, Netil Radio, Lila has since made her way up to Leeds and made herself one of the most in demand dj’s in the city and beyond. Her creation of the booming Leeds night ‘Brain Dance’ has given her the reputation of not only a great dj, but a respected curator; bringing some of the countries’ best to energetic Leeds dancefloors. Make sure you have your ciggy beforehand, as Lila’s heavy set will keep your head bopping and your legs moving. Kisa: Next we've got Kisa! Having grown up on a steady diet of afrobeat whilst living in the melting-pot city of London has led Kisa to develop a distinct style inspired by sounds from across the globe. Currently running a monthly residency on Vandelay, she explores the dance side of her eclectic music taste. Alongside this, she manages Sample Chief, where she digs into all things related to African music and its’ diaspora. She is also a resident DJ for @utopia_presents having recently supported the likes of Shy One, Ben Hauke, Wookie, Crazy Cousins, El-B and more. Be prepared to shake a leg (or two!) as she blends the sounds of UK dance music with global club sounds, with particular attention to broken beat and uk funky. Taygo: Last but certainly not least, Taygo! With afrobeat and rocksteady soundtracking his childhood, and being heavily influenced by his career as a drummer, Taygo delves deep into his eclectic catalogue of percussive, bass heavy cuts touching on uk funky, broken beat, baile funk and beyond. He is currently a resident DJ for the flourishing Leeds’ nightlife staple @bazuka.nights and has supported the likes of Mina, DJ Polo, Papaoul, Manara and more. Get ready for a varied set full of the UK and global club scenes’ grooviest, stank face-inducing vibrations!
