A fabric known as Mata Ni Pachedi, which means 'behind the mother goddess,' serves as the goddess' shrine. When members of Gujarat's nomadic Vaghari group were forbidden from accessing temples, they built their own shrines using cloth images of the Mother Goddess. This clever solution is thought to be the source of Mata Ni Pachedi, the sacred art that is today held in universal awe.
Together, let's encounter the essence of the arts. Come and participate in The Rooftop's Devotee Painting in Mata Ni Pachedi painting session!
