Mata Ni Pachedi is a textile art that is said to be over 300 years old. It is practiced by Vaghari nomads who live along the banks of the Sabarmati River in Gujarat. When foreign invaders invaded India, they destroyed the temples and other religious institutions of Gujarat. To protect and secure the traditional beliefs and prevent the invading forces from blasphemy the Vaghari nomads transferred the idols of their gods and goddesses on a fabric that was easier to save from destruction.
Let us learn together how to paint a beautiful bird sitting on a tree in this art style.
