Folk Society - Rapper dance practice + contra workshop!

The ceilidh workshop last time was loads of fun, so this time we're going to try contra! Contra is like ceilidh but you do it in long lines of couples. Rapper is a form of traditional English sword dance which began around 1820, having evolved from the even older Yorkshire Longsword dance. This dance involves 5 people connected by each holding a two-handled sword and then performing intricate twists! Although it looks complicated, it is a beginner-friendly dance which is very safe despite the swirling mass of swords – just don’t let go of the handle!
