About

*New Event* It's simple - we're mixing together Double Dating and Solo Dating. If you chose to attend with a friend, you'll be sat on the same table (women) or travel around the circuit together (men). Essentially you'll be kept together the whole time and will date other pairs as a Double Date AND daters who chose to come alone. If you chose to attend alone, you'll be sat on a table alone (women) or travel around the circuit (men) and will date pairs of the opposite gender AND other solo daters. The benefit of this is that you get to meet more people than a typical Solo's event and get to keep your mate by your side the whole time. You'll be able to 'like' one or both members of pairs and vice versa so it has all the perks of a Solo's event in terms of matching. This is an event for all of us 1990's kids and will feature music from this decades and the noughties! The location is currently TBC and will be confirmed in the coming days, it will definitely be located in and around Newcastle City Centre and will likely be one of our partner venues: The Holy Hobo, Pumphrey's or Bar Warwick. We will kindly ask you to arrive at the venue between 6.30-6.45, as you need to sign in with our team, be provided the materials and have the event logistics explained to you. You will tell the team which contact method you would like to be contacted by: text, email or Instagram DM. The event will begin at 7pm sharp so you need to be inside beforehand. Your dates will last around 5-6 minutes long and there will be a two 15 minute breaks. The event should finish around 9.30pm where you're more than welcome to stay and mingle in the venue in the wider bar area. You will be provided with a date rating sheet, whereby you can 'like' other daters (a like based on whether you felt you had a connection and would like to exchange contact details). If people are in pairs, you can like one or both of them and indicate this on your sheet. If they liked you back, you will match and preferred contact method shared the following day. Women will stay seated during the dates, whereas men will move around the circuit of tables. Each woman will be allocated a number, each man will be allocated a letter or combination of letters. Women attending with a friend will become 1A and 1B for example, and men will become A1 and A2 if they are in pairs. Your rating sheets will have the opposite gendered letters or numbers, i.e. men will have a list of numbers, women will have a list of letters. You can write any comments to help you remember the dates and we advise you to come up with a rating system for your date (remember, you're not just rating physically appearance, you're rating the quality of the connection and whether you'd like to see them again). It is essential that you write any comments, make your ratings and ticks by the correct number or letter corresponding to the person you're dating. You will hand in your rating sheet at the end of the event and your matches will be collated and sent to you the next day. Finally, since you are meeting a number of various people of different ages, occupations, views and backgrounds (some of whom you may not normally go for in the dating pool) - please be respectful. Why Sign Up? Maybe you're all swiped on the apps. Maybe you're recently out of a long term relationship. Maybe you've never found the right person. Maybe you're new to Newcastle and looking to make friends. Why not try dating old school and meet people in person? Have you ever had multiple dates in 3 hours? Worst case scenario, you get to socialise with other like-minded individuals and have a laugh. Best case scenario you meet your life partner! A: We hear this a lot – however everyone who has come to our events has gotten into the swing of the event relatively quickly. A lot of people say that when they arrived they were really nervous, but once they’d done a few dates and realised it isn’t as daunting as it first seems, they begin to enjoy themselves. You can check out our testimonials videos on Instagram to see how other daters found the event. It is a great way to boost your confidence dating, particularly is you’re inexperienced, and it’s a great way to make new friends, either romantically or not. Q: I can’t make the date for the event that I want to go to, how do I find out about the next one? A: The best thing to do is to follow us on Instagram (which is our primary social media) or to join our mailing list by going to www.linktr.ee/ncldates and registering interest. We’d then email you our schedule when new dates are released. Q: How often are your events? Q: Events run roughly every 3-5 weeks for each category, though sometimes more regularly depending on popularity. Q: What are my chances of meeting somebody at the event? A: Our daters received an average of 3.5 matches per person, sometimes a lot a higher depending on how many people you chose to tick. This means you’ve usually got a handful of people who you’ve already established a mutual connection and attraction with that you can contact to arrange a second date or to converse further. Q: How do you ensure everyone is safe at the event? A: This is always a female member of staff on duty, whom you can approach if you have any issues. Our staff are walking around and visible during the dates, you can discreetly catch our attention or let us know during breaks if somebody has made you feel uncomfortable. All of our venues that we work with are ‘Ask Angela’ trained and all have door security. We also reserve the right to ask to see your ID at any event if we have reason to do, the door/entry staff of the venue may also request to see your ID, if you are lucky enough to look under 25. We’re always looking to improve our safety procedures so if you have any ideas please let us know. Q: How do the rating sheets work? A: You will be provided with a date rating sheet, whereby you can 'like' other daters (a like based on whether you felt you had a connection and would like to exchange contact details). If they liked you back, you will match and your preferred contact method shared the following day. You will input your preferred method of contact on your date rating sheet. Each woman will be allocated a number, each man will be allocated a letter.
