Bach Coffee Cantata

Exploring baroque and modernity, St Andrews Chamber Opera welcomes you to this semester’s immersive performance of Bach’s Coffee Cantata in the original German. Composed in 1734 and originally performed in a Coffee House in Leipzig, the work satirically explores the tensions between a father and his daughter as she grows up, desires, and develops a coffee addiction. Light-hearted and modern, it transcends time to reach us in today’s proliferation of coffee shops and caffeinated drinks.
