About

One of the great highlights of Devon’s culture is our wonderful landscapes and the nature with them. At the heart of this natural culture is the Dartmoor National Park with its wild granite tors, flowing rivers and big skies. This short walk will give us the chance to glimpse a little of Dartmoor as we walk by the East Okement River and then walk up East Hill for views of southern England’s only mountain. Along the way, we will tell stories from Dartmoor’s rich folklore. We will do a circular 2.5 hour walk (approx 3.5 miles) from Okehampton railway station. We will walk by the East Okement river and then up to East Hill where we hope to have views over Dartmoor and northwards to North Devon. We will walk through woodland and across meadows. The walk will be led by experienced Dartmoor walkers. The event is free but you will need to buy your own rail ticket - a return from Central Station, Exeter to Okehampton. This costs £9.20 or less with a railcard. We have limited spaces, so if you can no longer attend you need to cancel your ticket by emailing [email protected] with: • Your email address used to purchase the ticket(s) • Your name on the FIXR account Deadline to cancel your ticket is 11am on Friday 8 March.
