Meanwhile, the broader significance of WWII in Hong Kong and Macau, lived experiences during this period, and the nuances of political and social interactions are often overlooked. We are honoured to have a speaker event with Dr Helena Lopes. lecturer in the Oxford University History Faculty, titled 'Hong Kong in Macau during the Second World War'. Dr Lopes holds hold a DPhil in History from St Antony’s College, Oxford, and two MA degrees (in Chinese Studies and in Historical Research Methods) from SOAS, University of London. She is an expert on the modern history of China and is involved in the diverse and dynamic field of global history, researching such themes as diaspora and migration, diplomacy, collaboration and political interaction during the global WWII, and other global entanglements and encounters.
