Six Slice Presents: Nu Jazz - An evening showcase of the most exciting genre-bending new music in Manchester. Jazz // Hip Hop // Fusion // Beats // Folk // Electronica // Experimental Welcoming Leeds based Têtes de Pois, and Skwid Ink for their Tight Lines Compilation Launch! Tickets: £5 ADV | £6 OTD. Emanuel J Burton - Emanuel J Burton is a jazz drummer who studied at BIMM. He takes influence from the likes of Thundercat, George Duke and more. Tête De Pois - Energetic and award-winning cinematic 7 piece Têtes de Pois cleaned up in 2017, achieving a coveted HMUK Development Award and winning the Love Supreme Festival Competition. Their new EP ‘Framework’, which was released on the 1st of February 2019 has gained them spots at notable UK festivals for summer 2019 including Green Man, Kendall Calling and Shambala. Other notable performances include Love Supreme Festival and Manchester Jazz Festival as well headline shows at the 100 Club and the Hootananny (London) the Belgrave and the Wardrobe (Leeds) and many more around the country. They have shared stages with Ezra Collective, Fatima and the Eglo Band and Mr Dukes. Skwid Ink - Skwid Ink are a raucous Punk/Jazz quartet based in Leeds. Gilles Peterson played them on 6 Music, the've supported the likes of Sons of Kemet, Nubiyan Twist and 30/70 to name a few. They appeared on the compilation records ’To Be Here Now’ and ’TLC001’ after releasing their debut EP ‘The Skwids Are Here’ onto all streaming sites and vinyl in 2017 through the label founded by Skwid’s members, Tight Lines. The Skwid’s live show is intensely energetic, completely unpredictable, an outrageous spectacle and a truly unique take on UK Jazz. Top Deck - Manchester based jazz quintet Top Deck formed in 2016. Their broad repertoire covers everything from bebop to contemporary, reflecting the amalgamation of each player’s range of musical experience and influences. Their set combines this eclectic mix, alongside their own original compositions that draw inspiration from swing, funk/soul, latin and reggae. £6 tickets OTD. This event is 18+. ID required.
