About

*RESCHEDULED* Ever wanted to meet the Best-Selling, world class author who's first book “Bad Science” sold over 500,000 copies (to date), is published in 18 countries, and reached number one in the UK non-fiction bestseller charts? Well here is your chance! With the generous help of the Wellcome Trust funded INSPIRE initiative and the collaborative effort between the Bute Medical Society and the St Andrews School of Medicine, we are honoured to host a talk given by Dr Ben Goldacre. Not only do you get to watch him speak, but there is also the chance for Book Signings after the event, with books sold by Topping and Company, St Andrews at the event (How much better does it get!?) The talk will be on the topic of Randomised Trials which are used routinely in medicine, to find out what works best, and what does harm. But we can and should do randomised trials throughout society: on education, on policing, in banking, in government, in companies, and more. Expanding on his work for the Cabinet Office and the Department for Education, Ben Goldacre shows how randomised trials can be done cheaply and efficiently, everywhere, to give answers that matter. A limited number of tickets will will be released on Thursday the 15th of February via FIXR, so please keep your eye out for updates! Anyone is welcome to this event including all students and non-students of St Andrews University, so we warmly invite everyone to attend what should be a fantastic evening!
