About

Cine-Cycle is an emerging film collective based in Bristol. For our first event we are screening Carlos López Estrada’s debut Blindspotting (2018) as a way of reflecting on the Black Lives Matter protests that sparked globally following the murder of George Floyd by the hand of the police earlier this year. This underrated film touches upon many relevant contemporary topics such as police brutality, white privilege, cultural appropriation and gentrification under the guise of a highly accessible, engaging and entertaining film. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates about this event and our future plans. ••••••••••••••••••••••• BLINDSPOTTING ••••••••••••••••••••••• American Comedy-Drama, 2018, 95 min Director: Carlos López Estrada Collin Hoskins (Daveed Diggs), a convicted felon, is struggling to finish the last three days of his probation. Collin, along with his short-tempered best friend Miles Turner (Rafael Casal), works for a moving company located in Oakland, California. One night while waiting for a red light, Collin witnesses a white police officer (Ethan Embry) gun down a black civilian. As Collin is haunted by the incident, he begins to have nightmares and experiences hallucinations. At the same time, Miles becomes distraught by the gentrification of Oakland, and a resulting sense of loss of identity, home, and belonging. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• For any further information write us on Facebook or send an email to [email protected]
