What is SRT? Single Rope Technique of course! It is the use of gear and tackle to rig rope systems that can be ascended and descended safely. Thus, it is extremely useful for exploring vertical shafts too sketchy to be free-climbed, as well as for faffing around in a tree on Forum Hill during Freshers' Week.
Being signed off as SRT competent permits you to go caving along routes that require it. It is not necessary to be an EUSS member (or indeed, a caver in general), but it would certainly be a bonus to everyone to brave the tree.
We will meet by the tackle shed behind the Sports Hall. There is a stoic, wizened tree there that has borne the burden of EUSS members for many years now and will bear us for many more.
