About

Dan Shake We’re beyond excited to be celebrating our 8th birthday with Turf legend Dan Shake, who’s been bringing the energy to our parties for as long as we can remember. An unbelievably talented selector and producer, famously backed by cult hero Moodymann as the first non-Detroit native to sign to Mahogani Music back in 2014 and more recently fervently supported by Gilles Peterson & Annie Mac – Dan Shake is no stranger to acclaim. Expect groove-heavy feel good music in every sense: soulful funky house underpinned by dense basslines, interspersed with Detroit-style cuts. He’s been taking the world by storm since he last joined us in Cambridge, and we’re absolutely buzzing to have him back on home turf. ******************************************* Josey Rebelle “The genre-bending DJ dominating top-tier dancefloors worldwide” – Mixmag Dominating is a fitting word to describe Josey Rebelle – she has quickly established herself as a heavyweight in the UK underground scene, making waves at home and abroad. Winning BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the Year award at the close of 2019 was the icing on the cake for this Rinse FM regular, marking herself among the best of the best selectors. We cannot wait to welcome her to Cambridge. ******************************************* Elkka Founder of record label and collective femme culture, Elkka is a staunch promoter of an inclusive and supportive party environment, seeking to uplift and encourage female and NB artists in the electronic music scene. Speaking on her new release Every Body Is Welcome, Elkka explains that her EP “symbolizes what I hope the dance floor to be—a music utopia or haven, somewhere for everyone to feel safe to express themselves, to find themselves, to be whoever they want to be and feel part of a community of acceptance and tolerance”. ******************************************* Lola Haro 2019 was a big year for Belgian wonder Lola Haro, with the broadcast of her first Boiler Room set from Ampere Open Air festival in August, as well as being awarded “Most Promising Artist of 2019” by Red Bull Elektropedia. We’re ecstatic to be a part of her journey into 2020, which no doubt holds much in store. ******************************************* Alexis Rising talent Alexis, having cut her teeth at Peckham’s Balamii Radio as an assistant and resident, has been deftly adding to her credentials as of late. She has recently appeared on line-ups for Printworks, Mixmag Live, The Pickle Factory and Tesselate - you heard her here first! ******************************************* All this alongside Turf residents serving up the usual madness upstairs in Room 2.
