The past 50 years have seen the likes of The Smiths, Nirvana, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Courtney Love, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, Garbage, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, Billy Connolly, Biffy Clyro, Coldplay, Wet Wet Wet, Orange Juice, Belle and Sebastian and many more all packing out our 900 capacity venue.   To officially celebrate our live music legacy, the QMU are delighted to announce that on November 30th 2018 we'll be working with Glasgow Glam Rock Dialogues to throw a 50th birthday party like no other!    In Autumn 2016, David Archibald and Carl Lavery established the Glasgow Glam Rock Dialogues. Their aim was to imagine a theatrical conceit for a series of performances in which they could approach pressing political and aesthetic issues. Since then they have written and performed seven live dialogues on a variety of topics and are currently editing a filmed dialogue on the French Situationist, Guy Debord. For each Dialogue a unique musical line-up is assembled, and thus far they have worked with members of The Dirt, The Exiles, Franz Ferdinand, The Hellfire Club, Life Model and the world’s only glam rock harpist, Sophie Askew.    On 30th November, the anniversary of the legendary 1991 Nirvana gig, Glasgow Glam Rock Dialogues will tell the story of the QMU's musical legacy through a mixture of song, spoken word, and a live video essay made up of archive images and written testimonials sent in by the public. We're delighted to have Glasgow’s favourite glam rockers on board for our birthday party. It promises to be glamtastic in every department!    In the run up to the event we're calling on everyone and anyone who has fond memories of attending events in the QMU and asking that they send in their stories, images and any gig ephemera (ticket stubs etc.) so that we may use them in our visuals on the night. We also wish to preserve these stories and images so that generations of future gig-goers may look back and enjoy them.   You can submit your images and stories online via https://www.qmunion.org.uk/qmu50, where you'll also be able to find out more about our QMU50 celebrations. You can also tweet us your gig memories using the hashtag #qmu50   So why not come join us we celebrate our 50th birthday in style! *[plus booking fee]. Management reserve all rights,
