Formal dining for Merton Winter Ball is now open! An exquisite menu, a special but relaxed and convivial occasion, the perfect start to an evening of style and entertainment like you have never before experienced.... We are delighted to announce that booking is now open for Formal Dining at the Merton College Ball. Your evening will start with a drinks reception, then move to the magnificent Merton Hall, a fitting venue for a 3 course meal you won’t forget in a hurry. The gentle strains of music will accompany you as the wine and witty conversation flows. Our menu: Filet of Herefordshire grass-fed beef Served with a tartlet of Red wine braised pulled short rib Or Vegetable Wellington (v) Beans, Grains, and Vegetables wrapped in a Flaky Pastry with Spinach & Walnut Sauce Both served with vegetables and potato dauphinoise, and accompanied by a glass of Château Jacques Noir, St Emillion 2016 Followed by, Chocolate and Orange Parfait with a pistacchio snap and Cointreau Anglaise, accompanied by a glass of Château Jacques Noir, St Emillion 2016 Followed by, Merton’s second dessert and coffee Swiss chocolates, Pineapple & Exotic Fruits with a selection of three English cheeses & biscuits, accompanied by the College Ruby Port or a glass of Chateau Septy Monbazillac 2013 The order of events: Drinks reception followed by a 3 course dinner (see above) with paired wines Ticket cost: £50 for a dining place, an add on to the Ball ticket Additional information: You will be seated at Merton’s long tables, and later on the Ball's Formal Dining Officer will invite you to nominate a leader of your party to coordinate your placement. We will ensure that all of your party list are seated together so make sure your friends don't miss out and book a formal dining ticket today! == NOTES == There will be vegetarian, vegan and allergies must be restricted to the EU’s 14 allergens. The meat served on the standard menu will be non-Halal and some courses contain nuts; so while you can choose to have a nut free plate, others in the hall will be eating nuts.
