The Art Law Society is excited to welcome Courtauld alumni Mona Yapova and Tamsin Golding Yee as the guest speakers for our upcoming lecture! Their lecture will provide insight into how art market experts deal with legal issues and disputes of authentication and the catalogue raisonné, highlighting recent examples and developments in the field as well as how expert roles have adapted to interact with artificial intelligence technologies.
Mona Yapova is an art lawyer at Mishcon de Reya LLP. She advises clients on a range of topics including intellectual property, market transactions, unique projects and commissions, artist representation and collaborations, authenticity, attribution and ownership disputes, and regulatory issues and investigations. The breadth of clients Mona works with include artists and their estates, collectors, galleries, art foundations, museums, government entities, and charities. Mona's roots in the arts extend to her own practice as a painter, her background in art history, and her previous work at Phillips, the Guggenheim Museum in Venice, and the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
Tamsin Golding Yee is the Deputy Director and Specialist of Modern British and Irish Art at Sotheby’s. She joined Sotheby’s in 2022 as an Associate Specialist in Modern British & Irish Art. She previously held positions at Christie’s in London and Singapore; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and the Tate Modern in London. Tamsin graduated with a degree in History of Art from the University of Cambridge, and then completed a Master of Arts degree at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, writing her dissertation on the sculptor Kim Lim. She was the Editorial Assistant for Jo Baring’s book Revisiting Modern British Art, published in Autumn 2022.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session and networking over drinks. See you there!
