THE BARNES BIG BAND

The Barnes Big Band is a long established 16 piece jazz orchestra playing a wide ranging and accessible big band repertoire. This ranges from Count Basie, Thad Jones and Buddy Rich right through to more modern compositions written for the band by musicians associated with it over the years such as Eddie Harvey, a top jazz writer and player with the Dankworth Seven, and our current lead alto saxophone, Steve Darlington. The band counts among its current and former players some of the finest jazz musicians in the London area. The band is led by trombonist Andrew Butcher who has played with the band for 15 years but took over from Stan Reynolds in 2018, a trumpet player with the legendary Ted Heath Orchestra.
