T2W9 OKEHAMPTON WALKS!

Join OODS on our latest adventure across Dartmoor. Come along and enjoy beautiful views, fun terrain and some awesome adventures along the way. We will be joined with EUOWSS (Open Water Swim Society) and going for a swim (Walk A) on Dartmoor itself, which is not an opportunity to be missed! Dartmoor is an outstanding area of natural beauty and is an essential space of exploration for any OOD or student. (This feels like I'm calling us aliens. We are not I promise.) OODS STRONGLY ADVISES SUITABLE FOOTWEAR SUCH AS HIKING BOOTS. OODS HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ACCESS TO THE EVENT FOR UNSAFE FOOTWEAR. OODS STRONGLY ADVISES BRINGING WEATHER APPROPRIATE CLOTHING. The Basics: This is a public transport walk, which will use the train to get to Okehampton. Members pay ONLY their transport. Non-members pay more! Walk A: OKEHAMPTON CIRCULAR (WITH SWIM) Length: 4 miles / 6.5 kilometres - Mild Terrain: Moderate, severe in places (This is Dartmoor). YOU MUST BRING CLOTHING SUITABLE FOR SWIMMING AS WELL AS WARM CLOTHING FOR AFTERWARDS. Walk A need to meet outside Exeter St Davids at 10:25 to catch the 10:37 train. You will need to get a return train ticket to Okehampton. DO NOT BE LATE, THE TRAIN WON'T WAIT! Walk B: OKEHAMPTON CIRCULAR (No Swim) Length: 8.5 miles / 13 kilometres - Moderate Terrain: SEVERE Walk B needs to meet outside Exeter St David's at 09:30 to catch the 09:39. You need to buy a return train ticket to Okehampton. DO NOT BE LATE, THE TRAIN WON'T WAIT! Both walks aim to be back in Exeter before 18:30. What to bring: IF YOU ARE ON WALK A YOU MUST BRING SUITABLE WARM LAYERS FOR AFTER BEING IN THE WATER. You MUST wear suitable footwear and bring weather appropriate clothing (Waterproofs, hats, sun cream, etc.). OODS reserves the right to reject attendees wearing unsafe footwear/clothing. Please bring a lunch and water, as well as snacks. Returns policy: If you are unable to attend the walk please contact the society no later than Midday Thursday.
