T1W9 DAWLISH WARREN WALKS!

**THIS WALK HAS BEEN CANCELLED!! THE MULTIPLE WEATHER WARNINGS THIS WEEK MAKE CONDITIONS HIGHLY UNSAFE FOR HIKING!! WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVIENCE!!** Join OODS on a gorgeous walk along the coastline that is as close to on your doorstep we can offer! Come along for beautifully scenic routes right on the sea shore that are 30 minutes on the train from Exeter. These walks finish in the SSSI of Dawlish Warren dunes which are studded with wildlife. This is a fantastic set of walks to add to your local repertoire and are not to be missed! OODS strongly advises that you MUST wear SUITABLE footwear. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to the walk for unsafe footwear. Now it is coming into winter we will be strict on this so thank you for wearing suitable footwear! The Basics: Both Walk A and Walk B are public transport walks! We will be using the train service from Exeter to Teignmouth/Dawlish/Dawlish Warren. COST OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS NOT INCLUDED IN TICKET PRICE! You MUST buy your own train ticket!! It needs to be an off-peak return! This walk costs an additional £2.50 for non-members, but is totally FREE for members! Walk A: Newton Abbott to Dawlish Warren Length: 11 miles / 18 kilometres (Severe) Rating: Moderate beginning to mild from Teignmouth with same moderate hill. Meet us at Exeter St David's Station at 08:45 to catch the 09:00 train. (This is a local line service that also stops at Polsloe Bridge (08:48), St James Park (08:51) & Exeter Central (08:54). You are welcome to join at any of these stations.) This walk will involve a ferry, which the society are paying for! Walk B: Teignmouth to Dawlish Warren Length: 5.5 miles / 9 kilometres (Mild) Rating: Mild, with a moderate hill a third of the way in. Meet us at Exeter St David's Station at 10:15 to catch the 10:25 train. **PLEASE NOTE: This walk is expected to finish earlier than usual. We estimate a return to Exeter of around 14:30!!** PLEASE make sure you make it to the train station for the given time, the train WON'T wait!! We aim to be back in Exeter by 18:30. What to bring: You MUST wear suitable footwear and bring weather appropriate clothing (Waterproofs, hats, sun cream, etc.). OODS reserves the right to reject attendees wearing unsafe footwear/clothing. Please bring a lunch and water, as well as snacks.
