About

St Mary le Strand (The "Jewel" of the Strand) plays host to the second Strand International Piano Series. Further to it's launch to great acclaim in the 2022-23 season, the new series will feature all 32 of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas. London's most intimate concert venue boasts stunning architecture, beautiful acoustics and a brand new Steinway concert grand piano. N.Vaneyev for solo piano) Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Sonata for Piano in A major, Op. 2, No. 2 ( i) Allegro vivace (ii) Largo appassionato ( iii) Scherzo: Allegretto ( iv) Rondo: Grazioso Zoltán Kodály (1882-1967): Suite from Háry János (arranged by Andor Foldes): (i) Viennese Clock (ii) Song (iii) Intermezzo Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Sonata for Piano in F major, Op. 10, No. 2 (i) Allegro (ii) Menuetto: Allegretto (iii) Presto William Bolcolm (1938-): The Serpent’s Kiss - Rag Fantasy (The Garden of Eden 1969 - No.3) Tickets include complimentary glass of wine Full details of the Strand International Piano Series available via following link https://sips.org.uk/ About Dominic John Dominic's pianism has won him won several prizes, including First Prizes in the 22nd Brant International Piano Competition, British Music Society Awards, R.C.M Chappell Gold Medal, a Director's Golden Jubilee Award at the RCM, Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition as well as a laureate of the Corpus Christi, U.S.A. International Competition for Piano and Strings. Performances in this country include the Wigmore Hall, St. John's Smith Square, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Fairfield Hall and the Barbican Hall. Overseas he has played in France, Holland, Poland, America, Korea and Japan. He studied at Chethams School of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. Concerto performances include Beethoven "Emperor", Brahms No.2, Grieg, Liszt No.1, Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue, Rachmaninov 3rd and Prokofiev 2nd. Of particular note was a performance with Itzhak Perlman, performances of Tchaikovsky First Concerto and Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. Dominic is an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. He is on the faculty of Goldsmiths University, Royal Academy of Music (Junior Department) and also teaches at City of London School for Girls & North London Collegiate School.
