This film tells the story of Lady Bird, a high school senior attempting to find herself as she attempts to get into one of the top Colleges in the US. Her most difficult obstacle to overcome on her path is her relationship with her mother, who is adamant about her staying close to home after graduating and with whom Lady Bird frequently argues. This is not the only relationship she is trying to navigate however, as she becomes caught up in two shaky romantic escapades. Greta Gerwig’s directing debut is one of the most relatable and heartfelt portrayals of difficult parental relationships and the difficulties of transitioning away from your childhood into adulthood.
