Elena Kostyuchenko is a Russian journalist and gay rights activist currently in exile. An investigative reporter for the newspaper Novaya Gazeta, she has become a prominent voice in exposing corruption and human rights abuses. In October 2023, a selection of her writings was published in English as I Love Russia: Reporting from a Lost Country, translated and released by Penguin Press. The book has received critical acclaim globally, winning multiple accolades including Best Book of the Year by The New Yorker and Time magazine, New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice, and the 2024 Pushkin House Book Prize. It has also been translated into several other languages.
In a public interview with Elena, we will explore her experiences as a journalist in Russia and Ukraine. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
