Nettle Weaving, foraging and folk stories

About

Rights For Weeds hosts a workshop in celebration of the generous stinging nettle. We will learn the ancient method of spinning nettle fibres into cordage (twine) by hand, including selecting and processing the nettles. There will be a discussion about nettle foraging and their myriad uses. This includes both recipes and traditional medicines. We could also talk about sustainable foraging practises and where foraging sits in conversations about food sovereignity. We'll finish with a couple of different folk stories from the UK and beyond. You'll leave with enough knowledge to sustainably and safely forage nettles (including how not to get stung!) and your own length of nettle cordage to take home. For more information about foraging and wildcrafting, check out @rightsforweeds on social media.
