Jim & Tonic's South African Weekend

Jim & Tonic at the Print House

About

Come join us at Jim & Tonic as we celebrate South African Heritage Day in style, with an entire weekend of events and activities. On Saturday, 23 September, we will start off with 'stalletjies' along the canal, selling a variety of South African goods, from spices to clothing to 'biltong' and 'droewors'. Live music by South African artists will keep everyone entertained, until the Springboks vs Ireland game starts at 20:00pm. The game will be shown on multiple big screens dotted throughout the venue. The 'Sokkie' event will start at the same time in the brand new JIM & TONIC event space, so feel free to join the dancing when you're ready! During Sunday, 24 September, we will have more 'stalletjies' onsite, more live music, and obviously we will be celebrating Heritage Day or 'Braai Day' in style. JIM & TONIC will be utilizing their entire space on Sugar House Island for this event. The restaurant bar, cocktail bar and rooftop bar will be serving South African Beer, Spirits and Wine (as well as Springbokkies). Our Restaurant Kitchen will be taken over by a South African catering team, providing proper portions of South African Home Style Dishes ('Ma se Kos'). Two food stands will join the 'stalletjies' next to the Canal, serving additional South African food options, and our courtyard space will be turned into a children's play area with a Jumping Castle, Ball Pit, and a lot more to keep the little ones entertained. During both Saturday and Sunday, JIM & TONIC will make available a total of 7 'Braai Shacks' for public use. Seating 10 individuals each, each 'shack' will be equipped with a 'braaidrom', 'Sekelbos' wood, a Braai Grid, tongs, brush, 'Jammerlappie', firelighters, and the other basic 'Braai' necessities. Each Shack is available to book for a 3 hour session, after which it must be vacated for cleandown prior to the next booking. Patrons can bring their own meat, 'braaibroodjies', spices and marinades (but no drinks). Tickets for a shack, including all of the above, are £40 each, for a 3.5 hour session. The 'Sokkie' is limited to 180 individuals, and tickets are £15 each, which includes two drinks of your choice (pint of lager or cider, glass of wine, single Gin & Tonic, Soft Drink or Coffee). The 'Sokkie' will be from 20:30 to 01:00, with the Rooftop Bar and Cocktail Bar open to 'Sokkie' ticket holders for pre-drinks from 19:00 onwards. General Entry Tickets per day are £15 each, which includes two drinks of your choice (pint of lager or cider, glass of wine, single Gin & Tonic, Soft Drink or Coffee). Although the venue will be open to the general public as well, seating (especially for the World Cup Match) will be reserved for Ticket Holders only. Buy your ticket today, and don't delay. Follow our Social Media Pages for updates on the event, as we will be adding more entertainment, exhibitors and activities in the build-up to the day. Join us for a proper 'Jol'!
