Initially an outcast from his homeland, Piazzolla blended New York jazz, Argentine música folclórica and tango, creating Tango Nuevo – a new style of dance music to which people had to sit and listen! With his death in 1992 a tidal wave of Latin passion was unleashed, sweeping the world as converts were drawn into the power and lyricism of his unforgettable music.
