Join us on Tuesday evening on the 8th of October to hear former Ambassador Myles Wickstead deliver a talk on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Please arrive at Amory Parker Moot Lecture Theatre between 18:30-18:45.
Myles Wickstead has extensive experience in diplomacy and international development, thus he has great authority to speak about the SDGs.
He has represented the UK on the Board of the World Bank from 1997 to 2000, has served British Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union from 2000-2004.
He has since then held a wide range of roles, including on the Boards of a number of international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and as a Specialist Advisor to the International Development Select Committee. He has written extensively on Africa and development. His book ‘Aid and Development: A Brief Introduction’ was published by OUP in June 2015.
Myles is currently a Visiting Professor (International Relations) at King’s College London and Honorary Associate Professor at the Strategy and Security Institute, University of Exeter.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals are described as 'a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.' They are highly topical in international politics, development, institutions and businesses, all over the world.
Those wishing to pursue a career in diplomacy, international development or sustainability are highly encouraged to attend this event.
We've generously decided that for one more occasion, membership will be not required for this event. However £10 unlocks you access to our future events where membership will certainly be required.
