St Giles Cathedral plays host to the inaugural Edinburgh Royal Mile International Piano Series. This exciting and prestigious new concert series will feature all 32 of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas throughout 2024. Featuring exceptional performances from leading UK and international pianists, these concerts will be an unrivalled opportunity to enjoy some of the world's greatest piano repertoire, as curated by our guest performers. Set in the stunning candlelit venue of St Giles Cathedral, with it's newly installed Steinway Grand Piano, this will be a musical experience to remember! Featuring Asagi Nakata (piano) Programme Beethoven - Piano Sonata no. 8 C minor op. 13 (Grande Sonata Pathétique) Mendelssohn - Lieder ohne Worte, Op. 67, No. 2 Mendelssohn - Rondo Capriccioso in E major, Op 14 Liszt - Piano Sonata in B minor, S178 Asagi Nakata recently served as one of the jury member at the prestigious 6th Interanational Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Weimar (2023) having won first prize in 2009. She looks forward announcing the release of her album under the label 'Da Vinci Classics' later this year, which will be sold in the UK, Italy and Japan and released on all streaming platforms.
