SHOW DEBATE: This House Believes Donald Trump is a threat to democracy After a monumental presidential debate, and just a couple of months before a decisive US election, this event will debate critical themes of US democracy, the conduct of Donald Trump, the election, and much more. Join us for a freshers week debate that promises to be controversial and spectacular in equal measure. Rachel Gilmour is the Liberal Democrat MP for Tiverton and Minehead, having won her seat at the 2024 General Election. She is also a former Director at the National Farmer's Union and a current Mid Devon Councillor. Lord Hanworth is a Labour party member of the House of Lords and an Emeritus Professor at Leicester University, and has served on several Parliamentary select committees and scrutiny bodies. Sir Benjamin Slade is a Somerset-based businessman and author, and is the owner and proprietor of the stately Maunsel House, which was let to key workers during the pandemic. Sir Benjamin also publishes a blog Greg Swenson is a frequent political commentator on GB News, a founder of a merchant banking firm, and the Chairman of advocacy group Republicans Overseas UK, where they support Republicans living outside the United States.
