Creative Leather with Sarah Spicer
Saturday 8 February, 10am – 1pm
Use an array of leather scraps and learn how to cut, stitch and button them into a small purse, plant hanger or your own creation.
Shoemaker Sarah Spicer is a part of Dartmoor’s Green Shoes Cooperative, making handmade shoes that blend traditional techniques with inspiration drawn from Dartmoor’s landscapes. Making shoes is a lengthy business but working with scraps of leather to create a whole range of creative objects is an adventure in itself!
In this workshop, Sarah will introduce you to some of the tools of the trade and how you can use them to create your own, highly individual, useful or beautiful artefacts. Find out how to use a rivet and what a Sam Brown is used for, and sew your work together with vibrant colours and two needles!
This workshop is suitable for adults and young people aged 14+. The morning will include a pause for a short walk in the beautiful surroundings of organicARTS (fingers crossed for the weather!) – please wear suitable footwear and feel free to bring a snack.
Please let us know your access requirements when you book your ticket. Workshop cost includes all materials.
