About

Ceramic Tree Spirits with Peter Jeffs Saturday 5 April, 10am – 2pm Delve into the earthy world of clay - use the textures of trees and plants to develop a unique Tree Spirit for your favourite outside space. Peter Jeffs is a potter renowned for his mystical, earthy figures and faces. Using the anatomy of the face and body as a starting point, he evolves life-like forms into ethereal beings who might live at the bottom of your garden – or indeed the depths of the ocean. In this workshop, you’ll look at the anatomy of the skull to start you off, before using the textures of trees and plants and the proportions of the face to develop your piece into a unique Tree Spirit for your own favourite outside space. You’ll use tools that you might find at home and develop skills that you can use in continuing clay creations long after this session. Your project will be dried and fired in the kiln at organicARTS. This can take up to two months, as it needs to dry slowly. We will contact you when it is ready to be collected. This workshop is suitable for adults and young people aged 14+. The morning will include a pause for a short walk in the beautiful surroundings of organicARTS (fingers crossed for the weather!) – please wear suitable footwear and bring a packed lunch. Please let us know your access requirements when you book your ticket. Workshop cost includes all materials and firing.
