Lakota Presents: Phone Traxxx, Mamba, Chiedza

Phone Traxxx is a UKG project that's got the scene buzzing. Comprising of three anonymous producers, these guys have been pumping out tunes on a no-frills release series via their burner phone. It's no surprise that UKG labels are experiencing a resurgence, with Phone Traxxx leading the way alongside DimSum, Rhythm N Vibe, Kiwi, MoodSwing + more. As Resident Advisor put it in 2020, "the future hasn't looked this bright for UKG in almost two decades." Having each cemented their name in the scene as successful producers and DJs in their own right, Alec, Harry and Rob have joined forces to curate a sensational live set. When they are not busy shelling it at Gottwood Festival, Fabric or Craig Richards’ infamous Lion and the Lamb, these three are always cooking up new UKG heat or releasing their own records on Alec and Dr Banana's lockdown founded vinyl distribution site Ba Dum Tish. Much like where garage itself is headed, the sound of Phone Traxxx is at once both nostalgic and new. Forward-thinking UKG that pays homage to the genre’s classic sound – but uniquely, the artists take a back seat, with little online presence (at least in the beginning), letting the phone imagery, and the tunes, speak for themselves.
