About

This documentary directed by Questlove (of ‘The Roots’) takes an in-depth look at the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival through a series of period footage as well as interviews with different artists that were present. Far less known than Woodstock despite featuring hugely influential artists like Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone, Summer of Soul shines a light on a major cultural event previously forgotten to time. Screened in collaboration with the UoE Business School Global Festival, celebrating Black History Month. Free popcorn with every ticket. 13/10 - 5:30pm and 8pm 2021/12/118mins/USA The cinema is located in the M&D room, at the back of Devonshire House 1, along from La Comida (The burrito place) Tickets can also be bought for cash on the door 30 minutes before the screening
